The Box is a horror film based on the 1970 short story "Button, Button" by author Richard Matheson, which was previously adapted into an episode of The Twilight Zone. The Box film is written and directed by Richard Kelly and stars Cameron Diaz and James Marsden as a couple who receive a box with a mysterious power. Production began in November 2007 and concluded in February 2008.

Tell about... Norma (Cameron Diaz) and Arthur Lewis (James Marsden), a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity. In theaters Oct 30th.

Just saw this movie, THE BOX and it's not what i expected at all. Never saw the TWILIGHT ZONE episode that it was based on which helps. Young couple have a box left at the front door of their suburban Virginia home. They are visited afterwards and given an ultimatum from a scarred Frank Langella. Press the red button that sits on top of the box and be given 1million dollars, then one person you don't know dies. This is a concept which creates tension and stress of course. The movie builds up slowly and creates an eerie premise. It's a must see for thriller fanatics. Be warned that the story takes a turn about three quarters through into unchartered territory that makes you think about it long after the credits roll. Cameron Diaz and James Marsden rock in their roles. Langella is a revelation as usual, while Director of Donnie Darko - Richard Kelley, loves his water features (Remember the use of water in his previous films Donnie Darko, Southland Tales). Thats all i'll say, just see it as soon as possible.
